All right, Internet. It’s finally time to stop with the Coachella rumors and speculation. The lineup for the sun-soaked festival in Indio, California on April 15-17 has been announced, the conversation is swirling, and, of course, it’s full of surprises, letdowns and the acts we all knew would be there.
First, surprises (or should we say downers): Despite widespread speculation, a movie soundtrack and a surprise cameo earlier this year during a Phoenix show, robot-rock legend Daft Punk will not be taking the stage. And keep dreaming for a Beastie Boys revival — much like their anticipated LP, The Hot Sauce Committee, the band is, once again, not going to deliver (NewsFeed does wish Adam Yauch the best of health, though).

Upsets aside, a good chunk of the lineup was to be expected.
After a huge year of tweets, Taylor and Twisted Fantasy, how could Kanye not headline Coachella? And after an epic album with a tour to match, the Arcade Fire has been prepping for a headlining slot all year.
As for the indie darlings, they’re all here too, with banjo-strumming Brits Mumford & Sons, post-punk rockers Interpol and the ever-melancholic The National all set to perform. And come on — has Sleigh Bells ever missed a party? It’s a no-brainer.

Without a buzzed-about reunion act like Pavement, who performed last year, the lineup lacks what the festival has been so good at doing — bringing bands back together. Still,Duran Duran, Death from Above 1979 and The London Suede plan to fill the requisite nostalgia slots. And who knows: Maybe the trio will prove to be better than an aging French DJ duo, or those rapping Jewish guys, anyway.
