Newt Gingrich’s Biggest Campaign Hurdle: Tiffany & Co.

We thought Newt Gingrich owed between $250,000 and $500,000 to Tiffany and Co, the upscale jewelry store, but now we know it’s  worse. Late Tuesday his campaign admitted he had a second line of credit at the store for as much as $1 million dollars.

A campaign spokesman, Joe DeSantis, told the Washington Post that the presidential hopeful and his wife had a line between $500,000 and $1 million at Tiffany’s, “that it has a zero balance, and it has been closed.” What was purchased remains unknown.
