Glaswegian cinema artist Luke Fowler, 34, focuses on biopic films of “marginalized or maligned” notable figures, such as Cornelius Cardew, an English composer of experimental music who developed a damaging attachment to the philosophies of Mao Zedong, and unorthodox psychiatrist R.D. Laing. He has been shortlisted for his film All Divided Selves, his third documentary exploring Laing’s life and works.
