Each year, Spam enthusiasts can head to Austin, Minn., home of Hormel’s headquarters, or to Honolulu, home of staggering Spam consumption statistics, for SPAM Jam. The carnival-like celebration of all things Spam is held during the first week of July in Austin and the last week of April in Honolulu. The first festival was held in Spam’s hometown in 1990 and spread to Hawaii 12 years later. (Hawaii is home to the U.S.’s highest percentage of Spam-eaters per capita, with the islanders chowing down on an estimated 7 million cans each year.)
