Tokyo’s cat cafés are paradises for cat lovers who can’t have cats in their apartments. Here, patrons can have a snack and play with cats for about $20 per hour. However, a new law that went into effect on June 1 requires the city’s approximately 25 cafés to close at 8pm, so that the animals can rest. Owners say the law is bad for business because they get the most customers at night after work.
