Two viral videos appear to capture Black Friday shoppers pouncing on a crate of cell phones at a Walmart in Moultrie, Ga., earlier today.

Here’s a second point of view:

The scene at the Moultrie, Ga., Walmart is reminiscent of the riot over $2 waffle irons that broke out at a Little Rock, Ark., Walmart last year on Black Friday.

But the mania at the Moultrie Walmart may help explain why Black Friday 2012 events have been Walmart’s “best-ever.” The store said in a news release this morning that during the “high traffic” period between 8:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. last night, “Walmart processed nearly 10 million register transactions and almost 5,000 items per second.” Electronics — big-screen TVs, tablets, laptops and digital cameras — have been the best-selling items so far.

Across the country, tech deals have spawned the craziest Black Friday stories so far. A Springfield, Mass., man allegedly left his girlfriend’s two-year-old in a car to buy a 51-inch flatscreen TV at Kmart, the Associated Press reports; police found the healthy sleeping toddler in the car at around 1:30 am, and tracked the man to his home, where he had somehow lugged the TV without the aid of his car. Some  shoppers skipped Thanksgiving dinner to camp out in front of a Best Buy near Ann Arbor, Mich., so that they could be among the first to get their hands on 40-inch Toshiba LCD televisions, the New York Post writes.

Long lines at stores have been driving people to their wits’ end as well. FOX 40 says a man spooked shoppers when he threatened to stab people on line at a Kmart in South Sacramento. At a San Antonio mall,  a male customer allegedly pulled a gun after another man  punched him in the face while trying to cut the line at Sears, according to the San Antonio Express-News; the line-cutter reportedly ran off and hid behind a refrigerator.
