Cinematically speaking, 2012 was a bit of a wild card year. For every moment of pure cinematic brilliance and originality (think films like The Master, Life of Pi and Beasts of the Southern Wild), vieweres also had to sit through such boring, bloated blockbuster fare as Battleship and Total Recall. Yet in the hands of video editor Gen Ip, a.k.a. Genrocks, the diverse crop of 2012 films becomes an arresting collage of the tones and themes that hit the big screen this year with the good (Skyfall, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and the bad (Dark Shadows, A Thousand Words) all adding to the cinematic tapestry that is Filmography 2012. In all more than 300 films were edited together into an eminently watchable 7-minute mash-up; the films and music used for the project are listed here.
