Here’s a belated Valentine’s Day treat, everyone: Vin Diesel singing a surprisingly heartfelt (if bizarre) rendition of Rihanna’s “Stay.”

The Fast & Furious star posted the video on his Facebook page on Feb. 14, accompanied by no explanation or context other than “Happy V Day…” By Saturday, it had racked up more than 183,000 likes and had been shared more than 30,000 times. The majority of his karaoke performance showcases his signature baritone — though he does attempt to hit some high notes.

Throughout the video, the actor remains in a shadowy corner of a dark room, partially illuminated by the projection of Rihanna’s music video on the wall beside him. And this completely unexpected (and unlikely) performance comes without a hint of irony. The 45-year-old action star seems genuinely dedicated to belting out “Stay” to the best of his ability.

It does get kind of weird at the end, when he closes out by saying “Happy V-Day, amore” three times and then blows a kiss. But hey — his 39 million Facebook fans seemed to enjoy it regardless.
