The issue features stories from TIME’s Nancy Gibbs, Fareed Zakaria and other writers, along with exclusive photos and interactive features exploring the ongoing investigation and analyzing the aftermath of the attack. Available on iPad, Nook and Kindle, the edition is free and available to all readers starting Thursday morning. Though TIME released two tablet-only editions during the 2012 election season, this week’s digital edition is the first free issue of its kind.
The special issue accompanies TIME.com’s ongoing digital coverage of the tragedy.
The next print edition (and regularly scheduled tablet edition) of TIME will be dedicated to The TIME 100 — our annual look at the 100 most influential people in the world — and will hit newsstands Friday, April 19.
The original version of this article has been updated to reflect the release of TIME’s special tablet-only edition on the Boston Marathon bombing.
