Just as summer vacations were kicking off over Memorial Day weekend, credit card comparison website CardHub.com released a report ranking cities for air travel during the warmer months based on convenience and affordability.
Drawing on data from the travel agency Travel Leaders Group and the website Kayak.com for trips beginning July 13 and ending July 21, the study analyzed both domestic and international travel. New York was the best city to travel to within the 50 states, while Mexico’s Cancun was the most affordable and convenient international destination.

For domestic travel, the best destination cities are:
- New York, NY
- Chicago, Ill.
- Washington, DC
- Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
- Orlando, Fla.
For international travel, the best cities to go to are:
- Cancun, Mexico
- Playa del Carmen/Riviera Maya, Mexico
- Montego Bay, Jamaica
- Negril, Jamaica
- Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
