We’re used to seeing adorable pictures of Bo, the First Dog, all over the White House’s Twitter feed – and now on Instagram. But today’s Bo photo was no ordinary Bo photo. In fact, it had some edge.

“Bo, stop trying to make fetch happen” is a reference to Mean Girls (2004), a comedy about the popular girls who dominate high school, starring Lindsay Lohan. It isn’t going to happen!” Here’s how the scene plays out in the film:

The White House’s Mean Girls tweet boasts more than 10,000 retweets and 5,300 favorites since it was posted shortly after 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Some of the best responses from Twitter users — including more Mean Girls references (Politico has curated more on Storify):

But thankfully, Bo Obama isn’t actually sitting in the Oval Office waiting for a playmate. He has been airlifted to Martha’s Vineyard, where the First Family is vacationing for the week at a private home.
