The bumper sticker says it all: Mean people suck. While that may be true, it’s no reason to call 911. Twice.
A Florida man called 911 to report that “his neighbors were being mean and would not drink with him,” according to TCPalm.com. The 911 operator explained to the man, James Collins of Fort Pierce, Fla., that this constituted a misuse of 911 emergency services and hung up. Collins however disagreed, perhaps because it was his birthday and he really didn’t want to ring in his 56th year with just “a container of Blue Ice” to keep him company. 30 minutes later, Collins dialed up 911 again to complain that his neighbors were “not drinking with him.”
Officers went to Collins’ house, not to celebrate with the man or join him in a drink, but to arrest him on charges including disorderly intoxication and misuse of 911.
