Google apologized Friday for accidentally renaming a Berlin intersection after dictator Adolf Hitler. As can be imagined, people were not pleased.

An anonymous user suggested Google change the name of Theodor-Heuss square in Berlin to Adolf-Hitler-Platz, its Nazi-era name. Maps are usually reviewed by a community of mapping volunteers or Google moderators. “In this particular case, the change in the street name was mistakenly approved, and we fixed it as soon as we were made aware,” Google said in a statement Friday. “We apologize for any offense caused.”
