This young girl, poised on an embellished sitting-room chair, is made-up with pink cheeks and tight ringlets in her hair. The photograph was found by Pvt. Thomas W. Timberlake of the 2nd Virginia Infantry laying in between the bodies of two dead soldiers, one Union and one Confederate, at Port Royal, Va., 150 years ago. But there were no markings or indicators that could reveal the girl’s identity, so the museum is recruiting the public’s help.
