You never know what you’ll find in an airplane bathroom.
While most of the time a trip to plane’s toilet is an adventure in above-seat hovering that requires copious amounts of antibacterial hand wash, the next time you’re there, you may want to poke around a little bit. Last week, an aircraft cleaning crew found 280 gold bars worth more than $1 million inside the toilet of a plane.
The Middle East discount airline Flydubai plane flew from Dubai to the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka, when the cleaning crew came onboard. After they found the treasure trove, police were called to the aircraft where they seized the 70-pound stash of gold. The Daily Mail reported that the custom officials said they knew the bars, worth an estimated £1.17 million, or about $1.9 million, were on board and believe the person carrying them got spooked and ditched the gold before fleeing the scene.
That’s a lot of gold to literally just flush down the toilet.
