The Tampa Police Department uploaded audio of a late-night 911 call in which a woman complained about “raw waffles.”
In the call, made at 11:49 p.m. on Jan. 30, a woman claimed she was served the meal at a nearby Village Inn restaurant and said she told the server that she wanted the meal taken off of her bill, but the server accused her of being intoxicated (she said she was not). The operator told the caller that the incident is likely a “civil matter” between her and the business, but offered to arrange to send authorities to scope out the situation.
The police released the audio to remind Floridians to only call 911 in the event of a real emergency; already, 50 percent of the calls that their 911 dispatchers receive are not emergencies.
In fact, restaurant patrons who are served raw waffles could also consider politely asking their servers to see if the kitchen can cook the food a little longer.
