Remember back when ads actually made claims about their products? When the “sex sells” mantra stopped at exposed shoulders? When tobacco companies actually promoted the health benefits of smoking?
Welcome to the Tumblr that Don Draper would love, a Technicolor ode to the ads of yesteryear. Familiar faces such as Cola-Cola and Campbell’s Soup make appearances alongside such long-forgotten products as the Prophylactic Whistle Toothbrush (motto: “There’s a whistle in the handle!”) and the Dictaphone Time-Master.
Old Ads serves as a nice nostalgia-tinged work break, seeing as it’s updated at least once an hour during weekdays. We can’t guarantee, though, that excessive browsing won’t lead you to become a Jell-O-eating, war-bond-buying chain smoker. That’s just the power of advertising.
