Eating human flesh? You can’t do that on television! Unless it’s Dutch TV and you and your co-host just go for it. Sorry, Fear Factor, but with these two around you’re going to have to kick the gross factor up a notch.
On their Dutch television show Proefkonijnen, which translates as Test Rabbits, hosts Dennis Storm and Valerio Zeno try to answer life’s tougher questions, such as, can you shave with ketchup? One universal, nagging question they wanted to answer? What does human flesh taste like? As two consenting adults eager to whip up some ratings, they hired a surgeon to shave off a slice of buttocks (Storm) and stomach (Zeno) and had a chef fry them up. “The chef cooked it in a frying pan with sunflower oil,” Storm told ABC News. “We didn’t add any salt or pepper because we wanted to know what it tasted like.” No word on whether they were served with fava beans and a nice chianti, though. The duo then looked into each others’ eyes and ate each others’ flesh on television.
The story has garnered a lot of international attention for a previously unheard of Dutch show. For Storm, that makes it all worth it. “It was just a few centimeters of meat,” he said. “And now I have a good story about that scar.” And we have a good story about the decline of western civilization.
