Helen Churchill Candee was an American journalist, feminist and famous interior designer. As a survivor of the Titanic, Candee wrote a cover story on the shipwreck for the Collier’s Weekly. The story was one of the first in-depth accounts of the shipwreck in a major magazine. In subsequent years Candee traveled to Southeast Asia and wrote two of her most celebrated books, Angkor the Magnificent (1924) and New Journeys in Old Asia (1927).
