We can’t imagine a less invasive doctor’s exam than one done over the Internet. That’s why Brittany Wenger, 17, figured out how to harness the power of cloud computing to create a breast cancer-diagnosing app. Wenger, of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., taught the “the cloud” the tell-tale signs of breast cancer using Fine Needle Aspiration data (one of the most minor types of breast exam). Her program can quickly determine of a mass is malignant or benign, with 99.11 percent accuracy. We bet she couldn’t predict, though, that she’d be the grand prize winner.
