Hip hop artist Nicki Minaj seems to love controversy almost as much as she loves her increasingly exotic collection of crazy outfits. In February, she befuddled fans with a borderline-sacrilegious exorcism-themed performance of her single “Roman Holiday” at the Grammy Awards (note to Nicki from Madonna: It’s been done). Over the summer, she canceled a headlining performance at the Hot 97 Summer Jam in New Jersey after a Hot 97 DJ criticized one of her songs as “not real hip-hop.” Finally, after being chosen to replace Jennifer Lopez as a judge on the Fox reality series American Idol, she proceeded to get into a feud with fellow judge and co-diva Mariah Carey, in which Carey alleged that Minaj had threatened to “shoot her.” And as for the outfits? We’re not sure if we prefer the Nicki and the Amazing Technicolor Petticoat look here, or her purr-fectly ridiculous leopard-print getup from last year’s Grammys.
