Then U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich pauses as he speaks during a news conference to announce his vote on the health care reform legislation March 17, 2010 on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.
In a 2007 presidential debate, NBC’s Tim Russert cited a passage from Shirley MacLaine’s book, in which the actress wrote that candidate Dennis Kucinich had seen a UFO from her home in Washington state. The former Ohio representative confirmed that he had indeed spotted an unidentified flying object, and compared his experience to Jimmy Carter’s. But rather than explain whether or not he believes in extraterrestrial life, Kucinich took the opportunity for a joke: “You have to keep in mind that more people in this country have seen UFOs than I think approve of George Bush’s presidency.”
