A man who tried to trade a four-foot, live alligator for some beer at a convenience store in Miami last week was cited for illegally capturing and trying to sell the reptile.
“I have never experienced anything like this in law enforcement,” Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Jorge Pino told NBC. Fernando Caignet Aguilera reportedly found and trapped the gator in a park. When he allegedly tried to barter it at the store, the clerk called the police. Aguilera was charged: it is illegal to touch, feed or harass alligators in Florida.
