Faron Thompson of Orlando, Fla., was arrested on charges of battery and strangulation for allegedly forcing his fiancée to swallow her own engagement ring after she said she wanted to move out on him, according to WKMG’s ClickOrlando.com. The woman claimed Thompson held her down and tried to force the piece of jewelry down her throat while she held a one-year-old child in her arms. Deputies at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said he also attempted to burn the house down, and that when apprehended he’d allegedly told them that “women always claim assault, but never accept responsibility for provoking someone.” Thompson pleaded not guilty to charges of domestic battery by strangulation and neglect of a child, per Orange County court records.
